Forum for Impact Launches Inaugural Canadian Dialogue in Tofino, Focusing on Indigenous Values, Ocean Health, and Catalytic Philanthropy
Forum for Impact (FFI) is set to make its Canadian debut from June 25th to 27th, 2025, hosting its prestigious, invite-only investor dialogue in the breathtaking Tla-o-qui-aht Indigenous Peoples Territory in Tofino, British Columbia. This inaugural Canadian gathering will integrate seamlessly into FFI’s global network, bringing together leading family offices, foundations, private investors, and institutional players to explore “The Convergence of Integrated Capital and Indigenous Values in Canada’s Conservation Economy”.
Deep Dives into Critical Impact Areas:
Set against the backdrop of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region, the Tofino dialogue will move beyond conversation to tangible examples, showcasing how investment and philanthropy can drive meaningful change on the ground. The agenda will delve deeply into impact areas critical both to Canada and the global community:
Investing Through an Indigenous Lens:
Central to the event will be exploring respectful and effective partnerships with Indigenous Nations, governments, communities, and organizations. Dialogues featuring leaders from CIBC Indigenous Markets, Metis Settlements Development Corporation, Kwaxala, and the Indigenous Major Projects Coalition will focus on aligning investment structures and resource development models with Indigenous values and priorities. An experiential afternoon with the Ahousaht First Nation will offer participants direct insight into how collaboration can foster sustainable economic development and social well-being, demonstrating catalytic change in action.
Advancing the Sustainable Blue Economy:
Recognizing the vital importance of ocean health, the forum will feature a dedicated session on “Innovations in The Ocean Economy”. Experts will discuss cutting-edge approaches, the role of blended finance in mobilizing private and public capital, and the necessity of global cooperation to protect and sustain marine ecosystems. Participants will explore investable opportunities that contribute to a thriving blue economy.
Catalytic Philanthropy and Innovative Finance:
The dialogue will address the evolving landscape of philanthropy, particularly how foundations and donors can maintain momentum in a complex world. A key focus will be on maximizing impact through Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs), exploring innovative strategies and specific examples of how these vehicles can be effectively deployed to achieve significant social and environmental outcomes.
Introducing “Impact Lenses”: Translating Dialogue into Measurable Outcomes
A significant feature of the FFI Canada event will be the regional launch of FFI’s global “Impact Lens” initiative. This innovative framework represents FFI’s commitment to ensuring its dialogues translate into real impacts and measurable outcomes. The Impact Lenses are designed to deepen community engagement by providing a structure for sponsors, participants, investors, and innovators across the solutions spectrum to collaborate on specific impact programs aligned with the event’s themes.
Before the Tofino gathering, FFI will work with partners to define key focus areas within the initial Canadian lenses: Ocean Economy, Indigenous Impact, and Donor-Advised Funds. Post-event, FFI will track and report on the progress of these collaborative programs, fostering sustained impact and accountability. This mechanism aims to actively engage the entire FFI community – from those providing capital to those developing solutions – in creating lasting positive change, moving beyond inspiration towards concrete action.
FFI Canada 2025 is poised to be a uniquely powerful gathering, setting a new standard for collaborative impact by integrating Indigenous wisdom, focusing on critical ecosystems, leveraging innovative philanthropy, and launching a new framework for achieving tangible results.
